Rainy days and Mondays {and the little joys}

Recently the weather took a lovely turn toward FALL, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it!  This is a view from our veranda, toward the back of the house.

BEA-UTIFUL! I spent Saturday dancing around the house, saying, “I LOOVE this weather!”  The sun was shining and the air was crisp.  I light a “pumpkin pie” candle and let the breeze flow through our house.  This kind of weather makes me want to light candles, make soups, curl up on the couch, turn on lamps, wear scarves, bake something pumpkin, look at pretty pictures.. *sigh*  I love Autumn.  And I’m so glad its finally made its way to Japan.

Today, its raining.  Their was a brief window of opportunity this morning during Bryan’s lesson that Jones and I snatched to run around outside for a little while.  We went to a nearby park (Jones pushed his stroller, as he likes to do lately), and he climbed up and down the slide, getting completely muddy and wet in the process.  It was dangerous, people — I was wearing a white shirt.  BUT!  .. I got away without a smudge.

I’m finding such joy in the little things of home-life, to which I am so thankful to Jesus.  I never knew homemaking would be so creative and fulfilling!  I wouldn’t want it any other way.  The {little joys} of the week have included reading “I Love You Forever” with Jones and pointing out the kitty (“di-dee”) on every page (whilst meowing!), Jones saying “apple” for the first time (its crazy how fast they learn!), enjoying a good novel after an uplanned hiatus from ficiton reading, eating pumpkin-chocolate-chip muffins, playing with our friends the Winterbottoms, and receiving a “BOX OF AUTUMN” from my amazing, wonderful MAMA!! (Decor, candies, magazines and recipes — it was amazing!!) .. not to mention the sights we saw on Saturday.  This is 20 minutes from our house, people!

This is at Nihondaira — when the clouds clear up in the cooler weather of winter, we’ll be able to see the gorgeous Mt. Fuji from here.
