I first heard the phrase “high countries” in a song, which lead me to read a book. I was forever impacted by the idea that I was made for some other place — that it was in fact a greater reality, more solid than the book in my hands, the chair I sat in, the cup in front of me. This dazzled me. I wanted tastes of that place, of those high countries. I believe that God grants to us tastes of His goodness and redemption even now, while we breathe this dusty air.
This blog is my attempt at seeking moments of connection with what is in the future, yet has already come: the place awaiting us that has already been made, the greater reality that hides in plain sight. That is my real country, the place I have been looking for all my life, and I aim to go further up and further in til the journey is complete.
“I have come home at last! This is my real country! I belong here. This is the land I have been looking for all my life, though I never knew it till now… Come further up, come further in!” -The Last Battle, C.S. Lewis.
